Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a question? Maybe someone has already asked it!

Question: It is the end of the 1st six weeks. Has my gpa or class ranking changed?
Answer: No. GPA's and class ranks are only calculated at the end of each semester. So, they are updated every January and
June.

Question: Which classes do not count toward my gpa?
Answer: Athletics, PE, Band, Drill Team, Dance, TAKS remediation classes, and student aide classes do not count toward gpa calculation.

Question: I am a senior and I took my last final exam today. Why isn't my final transcript ready today?
Answer: Teachers submit grades for all their students, regardless of their grade level, at the same time. It also takes teachers
several days to grade exams, enter grades, and calculate averages. Therefore, final transcripts for seniors are not available until grades for the whole school have been submitted-which usually takes about a week.

Question: I am a senior and I took dual credit classes at Collin College. Will the university I am transferring to need a transcript
from Collin College and if so, can you send it.
Answer: Yes, your university will need a high school transcript from FHS and a college transcript from Collin College. Since Collin College is a separate educational institute than Farmersville High School, and I work for FISD not Collin College, I cannot send a transcript from Collin College. You have to call the registrar at Collin and have them send a transcript.

Question: I didn't get into any of the dual credit classes at Farmersville because they were full by the time I registered at Collin
College. Can I still take dual credit classes?
Answer: Yes. You can take dual credit classes at either Princeton HS (they let Farmersville students into their classes if they have room) or Collin College in McKinney.

Question: I want to take honors, dual credit or AP classes. How do I get into those?
Answer: If you are currently in a regular class for the subject you are trying to take honors (dual credit or AP), you have to have a 90 average for the year to qualify. If you are already in an honors class in that subject area, you have to have a 85 average for the year.

Question: How often can I take the SAT or ACT test?
Answer: As often as it is offered and your parents are willing to pay for it!

Question: Is the SAT or ACT offered at Farmersville High School?
Answer: No. You can look at the websites for both tests (collegeboard.com for SAT, act.org for ACT) to find the nearest testing
center. Most Farmersville students take the tests at Wylie High School or Collin College.

Question: What is a good score on the SAT or ACT test?
Answer: For the SAT test, grades range from 200-800 for each section (3 sections-Reading, Math, Writing). The average score on each section is 500. For the ACT test, grades range from 1-36 for each section (4 sections-English, Math, Reading & Science). The average score on each section is 20.
